The Marvels: Was it Done Right?

And I think it was done the best way it could be. Many things were right. But there were things wrong as well. However, overall, this movie was fun. Seeing the three Marvels join together and take down a new threat was good. Even though that threat is no longer here, that’s beside the point. This movie kept me going the entire time. Like I said, there are things wrong. But it was just a lot of fun. So, let’s talk about this exciting yet fun adventure:

Let’s talk about the cast first. Brie Larson plays Carol Danvers. And we got plenty of answers about what happened right after the Captain Marvel movie and before Endgame. There were plenty of reasons why the Supreme Intelligence was never mentioned during the Avengers movies. Or any other Marvel movies. And the reason is pretty straightforward. This made me enjoy Carol in a whole new way. At first, they made her look like a villain. However, Marvel did a good job explaining why it all happened. Overall, Brie Larson pulled this character off in a whole new way.

Next, Teyonah Parris plays Monica Rambeau. Seeing her emerge from the aftermath of WandaVision was a little scary at first. I didn’t think she could do better, but she did. Throughout the movie, she has grown into a likable character. And that’s great! At the film’s end, we, the audience, were told that she would be a big deal.

And then there is Iman Vellani. And boy, she killed it. She is the reason I loved this movie. Coming from Ms. Marvel, a not-so-great show, Iman Vellani showed up and gave us, in my opinion, the best performance in this movie. And she was funny. An older couple next to me, who were at least 40-50 years old, were laughing. She was hilarious in so many ways. Some of her lines made me laugh out loud. And that’s what made me enjoy her even better than her show. Her lines are the reason this movie resonated with me. She was just a lot of fun to watch.

Next, let’s talk about the action. And boy, there was a lot of action. The action was on point when all the switchings started, especially the fight at Kamala’s house. This team performed numerous incredible stunts and camera work during this fight. But not just this fight. Every fight in this movie felt well choreographed—especially the final battle against Dar-Benn. This fight was insane. My friends and I were completely engrossed in this fight; it was wild. The entire movie featured action sequences that felt realistic. And every fight was fun to look at.

Let’s talk about the music. Mrs. Laura Karpman is back once again to compose the music. She is best known for Ms. Marvel and What If…? Now, she is a giant nerd. She’s like me- a big music nerd who loves big orchestras. The music is unbelievable—big, heroic sounds with a futuristic space sound. I enjoyed this music. Every track mixes well with what’s going on on the screen. I don’t have much to say other than she did a great job with this soundtrack.

Overall, this movie is good. I had fun with it, and my friends who accompanied me did too. Stick around for the mid-credits scene. It sets up for what’s to come. I have some minor issues with this movie, but they are not significant enough to warrant discussion. It’s just a fun movie setting up for the future of Marvel.
